Hyper accurate, fully adjustable and only three square inches in size - TrackIR 5 is the one piece of kit that discriminating simulation and action gamers crave! Your increased situational awareness will make you the most feared competitor around. In dogfights, you'll be impossible to shake! In white-knuckle races, you'll beimpossible to pass! In tactical combat, you'll be impossible to flank!

The best headtracking game controller ever designed - experience real time 3D view control in video games and simulations just by moving your head - TrackIR takes yourPC gaming to astonishing new levels of realism and immersion! The TrackIR 5 is NaturalPoint's premium product- the best optical headtracking system available.

How does TrackIR 5 differ fromTrackIR 4?

TrackIR 5 offers 3 times the resolution of TrackIR 4 and ithas an increased field of view. TrackIR 5 features a newimage processing design for more accurate, smoother tracking and a detachable baseto improve durability. Perhapsthe feature most prominent forAustralian simulation and action gamers is the TrackIR 5's improved sunlight filtering, which improves tracking during daylight and other strong ambient lighting conditions.

How does it work?

As you move in your chair and rotate your head small amountsyour game-view will precisely correspond. You never have to look away from the monitor because all aspects of your motion are amplified and adjustable! The TrackIR package contains a small, wide-angle, infra-red camera and a reflector clip – the camera detects light reflectedfrom the clip and tracks the movement of the reflections inorder to provide input to programs that support axis-based controls. In short:TrackIR turns your head movements into in-game movements.

The TrackIR 5 provides 6DOF (Degrees-of-Freedom), which allows for yaw, pitch, roll movements, as well as movementalong the X, Y and Z axes. Notall games/sims support 6DOF, but most support at least two (which are required for simplefree-look movements). For a full list of supported titles (and the DOF they support), see the TrackIR website’s Enhanced Games page or check the list of popular titles below.

The device itself is tiny, measuring only a few centimetres in all directions – and with it’s flexible feet,is easily mountable on the topof a CRT or TFT screen and is connected via USB 2.0. Installing the software is a breeze and you’ll be up and running in moments. To installthe included TrackClip Pro accessory (if you purchase one– see TrackIR 5 Ultra & TrackClip Pro),, you simply plug the TrackIR into the TrackClip's cable and plug that into your PC. The TrackClip 'add-on device' provides IR lights instead of reflectors and is clipped ontoan audio headset instead of a hat.

Let's see what some reviewers had to say about TrackIR:

"Of all the innovations designed for flight simulationover the past few years, I would argue that NaturalPoint's TrackIR head tracking device is the one piece of technology that has done the most to advance our hobby. TrackIR's design is an innovative solution to the inherent limitation of our screen-bound hobby. It gives us the ability to view our virtual three dimensional world in a natural three-dimensional fashion using a two-dimensional screen. In short the TrackIR allows us to look around our virtual world just by merely moving our head. With the device translating that movement on screen, the TrackIR has elevated that intangible sense of immersion to a greater level and has therefore changed the way in which we view and interact with our simulated environment."

Derek Davis in PC Pilot Magazine, March 2007.

"The difference between havinga TrackIR and not having one? Well, one analogy I can give is the difference between having a dial-up modem and DSLor cable Internet service. If you don't know what you're missing, it's OK, because you don't know or haven't experienced how much better things can be. But once you make the change, once you do know the difference, you can never go back. It's like a newworld has opened up for you. We simmers enjoy a hobby that provides us hours of entertainment, and like many hobbies it can be expensive. Certainly, the most expensive part of it is the hardware. Keeping up with the latest developments all the time would drive most of us to the poor house, you just can't do that. So, for most of us, it'sa case of justifying how much a piece of gear is going to help us enjoy our chosen leisure pursuit. We're really talking gaming peripherals, nodifferent than a HOTAS, or a steering wheel and pedals. If you've been trying to fly Falcon 4:AF, or LOMAC, or IL-2/PF without a HOTAS, you're just not getting the full benefit of what those sims can do. Likewise, if you are driving a racing sim usinga keyboard, and then you get aMOMO or other steering wheel and pedals, you suddenly see the way the sim was meant to be played. And you can never go back. That's how it is withTrackIR 4. It helps you get the most out of the simulations you play and have the most fun. And that's what this hobby is all about."

"Be warned, once you have a TrackIR, you won't ever want to race without one again."

From Racesimcentral's James Burgess. Read More!

"There's no other way to explain it, Track-IR 4 PRO gives a new level of immersionnever before experienced. It'sactually that piece of hardware that does provide an advantage over the rest of nonTrack-IR users. Since it allows for very wide turning rate in game, without the userever leaving the viewable areaof the monitor is what makes it outstanding. The software customisations allow for a personalised feel to how you want to adapt to your game, and makes sure you never lose your enemy because of the limited viewing buttons on your controller."

From PlayReaction's Christian "Delta" DeBono Read More!

"An absolute must have if you are a flight or race sim fan, the level of realism and immersion that is added to anytitle that supports it makes this piece of hardware as important a step forward as using a joystick/throttle or wheel. Its as if you have bought a completely new game with every title that supportsit."
